Importance of Liver

The liver is the largest organ of the body and one of the most important ones too. It does multiple functions and is a factor that determines our body’s health. It does blood purification, helps remove toxins, helps in metabolism, very essential in maintaining the vitals, and contributes greatly to our immunity. A drop in liver function indicates a huge drop in our health.

In Ayurveda Liver is related to properties of fire or Agni or pitta dosha. Therefore excess spicy, hot, fiery things are not good for the liver. Alcohol, caffeine, junk foods, tobacco, hot spicy foods, chemicals, and packed or processed foods are all not good for liver health. Even Environmental pollution too affects liver health.
